South wind 6 knts, gust to 10. Too rough on the beach, I would think.

I fished Monday and Tuesday and the wind blew like a SOB. We manged to catch a nice mess of specs in a couple of protected spots on live shrimp and pogies.

Supposed to be fairly calm this weekend. 1-2 foot seas.

Fished the last 2 days but everything right behind the island was dirty. Ran north and found better looking water, found some fish but they were mostly small. Might have produced more with live bait.

We hit the surf on Elmer's on Wednesday. The wind was around 10mph for a bit but then it calmed down. Water was super clean and clear. Current was pretty strong parallel to the beach and pulled everything way down to the left. Caught a couple of 4 ft. bull sharks and a shite ton of trash catfish.

Pretty disappointing day.

Were you bottom fishing with cut bait?

Where do the sharks run, in the trench before or after the first sandbar?

I haven't seen any sharks out there during the day this year. Can usually catch black tips at night. Haven't seen any bull sharks ever.

Been on the island since Monday, wind has been howling like a SOB. It was a little better yesterday and we managed 20 trout, but we had to work for em. Mostly schoolies but a few nice ones. Live bait. The beach was fishable this morning but all I caught was trash fish. Guy in a boat next to me was fishing croakers and doing very well.

Surf is rough and the fish are scattered on the backside of the island. Caught only 10 14-18" trout, bunch of small trout and a shark.

yeah we were just using big chunks of cut mullet on a steel leader with a spider weight on the bottom. every time we go out there we use the same rig and leave with a few monster bull reds.

we were walking out to around the first sandbar and casting out.

we had 5 big strikes where we had lines popped with braided 50 lb. test too.

I'm the furthest from a shark expert but isn't that a black tip shark? Very good eating.

It could be. It looked a bit more like a bull to me due to no black on the gills but I admit I am no expert.

I've heard they were good eating but I think the size limit is 4.5 ft and these topped out at 4.

Water in Barataria Bay was dirty most everywhere I went. Some cleaner water around Creole Bay. Limits on redfish, a few keeper trout, plenty small ones
