Yeah you can't get it in 7.3:1 gear ratio online and they don't have any in the Gonzales store. Had a friend check for me when they opened this morning.

The 7.3's were available online this morning but must have sold out. I was there at 745 this morning and had quite the line already. Everyone was there for the reels and they quickly got gobbled up. Saw guys picking 5 at a time. I wanted a 6.6 but picked up the last 5.3 they had. These are good reels, I have 5 or 6 of them and the $99 price tag was hard to pass up.

Have you used them in saltwater? I can't imagine an aluminum gear holding up in a sw environment. An aluminum frame should be ok, but a wear part would be a different story I would think. All that aside, great price and should be awesome in fresh water.

I've only used mine in freshwater but all the newer quantums are supposed to be corrosion resistant. Not sure how well they would stand up to constant exposure though.

The corrosion resistance is usually accomplished by anodizing the aluminum. That's why I think a wear part, like the main gear, would end up corroding in saltwater. The meshing would eventually wear through the thin anodized layer. Then the aluminum will start oxidizing. If the companion gear is some type of plastic, that may never happen. That was the issue with the original Chronarch 50 MG. Once they put plastic wear pads in crucial areas, the problem got better. I bet these are great freshwater reels. I just don't fish fw much.
