Any electricians in here? Got a question

Just curious to your preference on wire nuts or crimped butt splices for connecting braided wire. Just installing a switch for a small shop light on a new workbench I'm building. Wire gauge is 16 on the outlet cord and 18 coming from the light fixture

Wire nuts in that place. If exposed, just tape over the nuts.

Chinese bullet connectors so you can just swap it out quick next time it goes out.

Low voltage? Crimp or better yet solder. 120V? Wire nut is more than fine. Crimping with a pair of needle or channel locks and not a good quality crimp tool? Use a wire nut instead.

120, and I've got a crimping tool. Just had both types around, butt splices have the heat shrink seal on em so makes it cleaner.

Dolis, I use a wire nut so the next guy that works on the project knows for sure that it isn't one complete wire.

Wire Nut, and wrap some electrical tape really tight around the connection. To where it is stretching as it adheres. A couple wraps like that and it looks almost like it has been heat-shrink wrapped.

Any electrition knows never put tape on the wire nuts. Because over time the glue on the electrical tape will melt. And when you need to take it apart you will be cursing yourself out. It cause a mess. And its aggravating to get off exspecially when you try to work it hot
