Bought a "damaged" rod from the bargain cave at Cabelas yesterday for about 75% off new the only issue is the butt cap is missing (will post pictures later). Any place online I should look at ordering a replacement cap?

I would think a butt cap could just be affixed to the end of the handle with epoxy/glue/adhesive? I would call the guy at mudhole and talk it out with him. Hes also a rod builder so he can steer you straight with the correct parts and if you could DIY.

if all it is is the butt cap i would just order a new one. the rod epoxy is expensive.

If he wanted i could meet and mix some up for him so he wouldnt have to buy a whole tub.

The inside part where the glue was attached is 13/16" wide and 3/16" tall
The width where the grip starts is 1-1/16"

For comparison

Just glue a bottle cap off your favorite beer and forget about it.

If I didn't already know what this was, I would be terrified to click on it while at work.

That was kind of what I thought, figured somebody, like yourself, who had played around with building from scratch would know.

If it works and costs me $10 max, I'm $35 into a $100 rod. If it doesn't I can saw off the nub, sand it down and re-wrap it or dip it in some kind of rubber compound, Just trying to not jug myself in the ribs with a jagged piece of fiberglass setting the hook.

Again

You could always just glue another piece of cork/EVA onto the end and file/sand it down.
