Saw a 4x2 racked buck / probably 3.5 years old chasing a doe. With proper protein, would he ever grow into something better than 4x2?

Bump for the afternoon crew.....will a 3.5 year old with a shite rack appreciate any if more protein is introduced?

In all likelihood, no. However, it could be the result of an injury to his body or to the antler itself during antler growth. I wouldn't think twice about shooting him if you are actively managing for big deer. He has had his time to develop. You generally have a good idea of the direction a deer is headed when he reaches 3.5

If it's the first time you saw him don't shoot. If he is consistent with it for two years then call him a cull. Saw a video put out by Ms St showing a deers funky antler sheds. Said it was from injuries in velvet. These horns weren't disfigured, just looked weak ( short tines and main beams). The next year that deer was a beautiful 140 inch deer
