Been once - my advice:
Shoot the gator several times. When you think he's done and not moving, shoot him again.

I miss my gator hunting days.

CSB I slipped and fell in the water with a gator while trying to roll it in the boat. That is the fastest I have even gotten out of the water

Last year I gave a 9 footer about 15 pieces of my mind with 22 magnum.

Got it in the boat, standing on the tail while my FIL is cutting to tag it and that bastard lifted me about 6 inches smooth up off the floor of the boat. Apparently the nerves are strong after death.

Mississippi regs.

We stalked a 13 or so footer all afternoon. If we could use a bow, we would have had him but that is not allowed on public property in Mississippi. Have to use treble hooks. Cast, hook, snare, then shoot with shotgun.

Nope. He kept diving and popping 30 or more yards away.

All I know is there is a quarter size kill spot that you can apparently hit easily while it's thrashing around, and some gator hunters can pull a 1000lb beast in the boat by himself.

I'm out here in the southeast zone in MS. Boats everywhere. Seen a few small ones.

Gonna be hard as shite to get a good cast on one.

My husband , our son and my husband's buddy start next week. I go with them to take pics and because it's fun to listen to the two of them talking and joking about stuff. They have been at this for decades.

They go way back in the woods where few people have been. We never see another person or boat out there. This is where we launch and that is the boat we usually use.
