A/C condensing unit comes on periodically

Obviously don't have the temp set for the AC to come on and it's not blowing cool air in the house. Just outside unit came on a few times during the night. Any ideas? It's only 5 months old.

The system may be "pumping down." Here is an article about it. The cooler temps at night may be causing the refrigerant to migrate. The low pressure switch controls the pump down cycle.
I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous. Sorry I can't be more help. You may want to call your ac guy and ask him.
