Im curious why you went with 6' instead of making it 4x8? More material but less cutting

The one I studied before I built was a 4x6. It has plenty of room for 2 grown men to sit in comfortably.

It might require additional legs or if your floor spans an additional 2 feet it may be more likely to sag.

Here is a pic of it looking at it with the feeder about 30 yards behind me... I think it blends in well.

That's a similar build to what we did in 1999. Ours were a lot taller & just a tad bit bigger. I need to Repl a few stair treads but other than that they have stood like champs.

Benefits from a two-man box stand:

Can fit an office chair and lounge out
Can bring the gf and bang away

I'm trying to think of the snags I ran into during the build...

When you cut the plywood for the walls, the sides are 4' wide, but the front and back needs to be 6'3/4" to cover the distance of the 6' floor and the two pieces of 3/8ths plywood attached to the side walls.

If you don't do that you'll have weird inverted 90 degree corners where it doesn't cover.

If that makes sense...

Nobody said you had to bring your wife, but I'm sure a gf wouldn't mind

Naw, they like it. My focus usually isn't on deer if I bring a chick because I don't hunt trophy property. I know I probably won't see anything if the broad ain't sitting still and NOT TALKING the entire time. I flipped my shite enough by the time I was 20 that I just diverted my focus to the extracurriculars

Very nice setup. How stable is it on the narrow sides. Do you think you should stake it down just to be safe.

I'm definitely going to drive a couple of fence post and wire them to the legs. And yes it's not as stable as I would like, I need to cut me some X braces to add to the legs for stability.

We did that to ours as well. It is crucial if you are going to be "rocking" the stand at all.

Nice! cant wait to see the post of the carnage come hunting season. Definitely recommend anchoring the stand. those things are like sais in any wind from my experience. Couple of options - 2 x 4's cut as stakes and driven in ground and cross braces attached to stand and stake, or a trailer tie down anchor in the middle under the stand and cable/turnbuckles to 4 corners then down to the anchor.

Very nice stand, we have one just like it. One word of advice, carpet the floor and spray foam the interior. I hunt with kids also, and they can be loud as hell.

All we've been building as of late. Powpow is getting old and enjoys bringing a hitchhiker every now and then.

This is excellent advice. All of our box blinds have carpet.
