Shooting a 10.5" barrel through an Omega Supressor. Shooting mostly target, but occasionally going to shoot pigs. Large variety of subsonic bullet weights. Anyone have any experience with lighter vs heavier bullets, subsonic a only

Boston,
I don't have any personal experience shooting subsonic loads through my 300/221 Fireball 12" Contender barrel. I have killed a number of deer w/ the 125 gr Nosler BT bullet and can attest to it's success. I know an MD in West Virginia (screen name WV Hitman) who's killed aver 2300 deer w/ handguns, including a bunch using a subsonic/suppressed 300 Whisper. When shot subsonic, the Whisper was developed to shoot 240 gr HPBT Match bullets, but he swears by the 210 gr Sierra RN bullet. More recently he likes the 170 gr Lehigh Defense bullets. The heavy subsonic loads kill by tumbling. I've not read of anyone hunting the 110-125 gr bullets subsonic. Here's one of the WV Hitman posts.

I load mine with 208 amax for subsonic.
Not sure if you'd be able to get subsonic below that without building too much pressure.

The guys at www.300blktalk.com have tried using subs for hunting. It is very tricky. The best load I have used is Barnes 110 gr. Tac TX Blacktip for hunting. I have only killed 1 deer with it but the expansion was picture perfect as advertised. The 125gr SST is an awesome load also. Check that page those guys have tried everything and can steer you in the right way.
