July is strange. I hate that place in July. Must be those north guys in the ditches off the river.

if you know the bend well enough to find some staging locations where the bigger females post up you can slay some 30lb bags. You can absolute catch some of them when they do move up, but your chance to catch the quality and quantity are at those staging areas. Both when they get there and on there way out. But those gold pots at the end of the rainbow are hard to find.

March is tricky for 2 reasons. The crowd up shallow and the consistent 3 day cold fronts that move through. One day its 70 degrees and the next its 27 with a 25mph north wind.

Let's keep this thread on track please!

Will Toledo Bend keep the number 1 ranking after another year of fishing?

If you keep telling everybody about the PPP method, there won't be any fish left in it.

Hey! Stop!

If you smell a stench that makes your eyes clinch, it's me chasing wool and being a tool.

The only two times I could go during pre-spawn were post front and post flood. Both sucked. Went back for my Memorial Day perch slaughter weekend and could not find grass. That sucked too.

When I execute the Triple P Method, I always let the lure sit until the rings of water disappear. Then I snap my rod tip down on slightly slack line to generate the "Pump". Pump two or three times and let the bait pause five to ten seconds.

I fished the day after the crest and did well on the South end. It was still clear, just up in everybody's yards.

Went back the next week and it was chocolate milk every where I went. Terrible fishing.

I didn't go back until summer.

I use this method from time to time for other reasons.

I caught a 10 and 2-7's on TB this past July. Just gotta know what pattern to fish. TB is such a monster that you can literally pick your poison. I grew up on that lake, you just have to know what your doing out there.

ETA: I kinda sounded like a dick with the "know what your doing" portion of my post.

You have to make an educated guess and get lucky.

Im gonna say no. There's gonna be days in march where there are 2-3k boats on the water. Just so much damn pressure.

That must've been when I was there. I remember it turned on like the weekend after that...or so I'm told.

Ehh it was good but before the flood it was on fire. Literally every single day 10lbers were being caught.

I'm interested to see if the state record is broken this year. Last year a 14lber was taken.
