I am in the market for a new truck. I am a Toyota guy (always have been when it comes to vehicles). That said, the Toyota Tundra is not that enticing to me right now for some reason.

I have looked a little at the F150 (King Ranch, of course ) here lately...and have talked to a few owners.

I have heard two differing stories and wanted to get the OBs opinion.

One guy I know that has one loves it...loves the power, acceleration, interior, etc. Another guys really is unimpressed. He says the aluminum body rattles like a tin can.

What is the opinion of the OB on these trucks?

I had an order placed at the local dealership for a 2015 Lariat with FX4 trim. I personally didn't care for the new look once i sat in it so I cancelled the order and picked up a 2014 FX4. I picked the FX4 over the TRD Tundra for a few small reasons.

Each person is different on looks that appeal to them. Does the guy with the rattling actually own the truck? Just curious.

The 2016 F150 will have Sync 3 instead of the crap that it currently has. This is only important if you use the voice activation for stuff.

I have a 2015 Platinum and don't have any rattling. I only have about 4,000 miles on it so far but it feels and sounds as well built as any other vehicle I've owned. I'm really pleased with it.

I couldn't dig the aluminium body. I found a 2014 F150 XLT with 5 miles on it. Snatched it up on Mothers Day. Love it so far. Absolutely zero complaints on my part for what its worth.

Why? Stronger and lighter than steel. Ford subsidizes the repair bill if necessary.

GM is already planning their aluminum body trucks, hope you like Rams.

I love mine. I've had zero issues with it. Love the power (3.5L eco boost) and acceleration.

Leveling kit. It just doesn't look right without one IMO.

You want to go from a reliable, well built truck to a domestic? Prayers sent.

If you're not hauling I'd look at the 2.7 eco boost. Great mileage and still good power.

I like the '14 interior better, IMO, the '15 exterior is growing on me with certain trim levels. However some of the trim levels look like shite, IMO

I Love my '14 FX4 though

Did the leveling kit affect your mpg? What are you averaging mpg with the 3.5 ecoboost?

ive been shopping them hardcore. right now you can get 10k off the XLT or 7,500 off the Lariat, KR, or Platinum.

personally i do not care for the Platinum's rims. otherwise i love the exterior and interior aesthetics it offers.
i really like the options that come with the KR, but not sure i care for hte "western" feel.
think the Lariat offers the best deal since you can get EVERYTHING the other two have for 3-5K less, depending on options. (everything for the most part. KR and Platinum have some upgraded leather, little bit of trim here and there, and vibrating seats. not sure it's stuff work the price difference. the 2 nice models are really for exclusivity IMO).

Fully loaded Lariat is around 57k. KR and Platinum are both 62k loaded out i think.

also the discounts are INCLUSIVE of the 1,500 rebate that Ford has going on right now.

as far as drive. we are/were between a Yukon Denali, Chevy Tahoe, or F-150. My wife X'd the tahoe immediately in favor of the Denali. Then after further review of the Denali and F-150 she actually prefers the F-150 (to my fricking shock).

as far as ride, i've only test driven. i test drove a fully loaded Lariat, FX4, the works. This was at courtesy in Breaux Bridge and it was a bumpier test area. The truck road very well and was surprisingly VERY quiet. almost unnervingly because i had to make conversation with the salesman.

Off Topic, the Denali rides like a dream. that was it's most redeeming value when i test drove it. i did not like that they shrunk them down. the second seats feel cramped and the storage area/3rd seat isn't as spacey as it used to be.

good luck, let us know what you do since i am also shopping. my problem is i'm upside down on my car by about 4k
