with a sheath, if you look around. Lots of youtube vids about it, some modifications can be done to make it more useful. Guys throw it a lot for sport. Get some dirt and scratch marks on it, and cops can;t do anything about your having it in your car. You camp a lot, right? :-)

Guns don't kill people.
Shovels with fake scuff marks kill people.

try carrying a machete, kukri, or hatchet around in your car, in the big cities and see how far you get. That's my point. The CS shovel IS a hatchet/machete, disguised as an E-tool

I just carry a gun.

why would I need a machete in my truck if I lived in a big city?

I met an old man many years ago who was a WWI combat veteran. He showed me a long scar that ran from his collar bone to his shoulder blade. He said a sniper got him. I asked him if that was where the surgeon's cut him to expose the bullet's wound path. He proceeded to tell me that the term "sniper" was also used to describe enemy soldiers that would try to sneak into your trench at night and take you out undetected. He said one of their favorite weapons was a trenching tool (small shovel). They would sharpen the edge and use it like an axe. He said he was saved by a fellow soldier that heard the commotion and shot the attacker before he could finish him off.
So the lessons here are:
1. A shovel can be a very effective weapon.
2. A gun trumps a shovel.

This is at least the 2nd ridiculous thread I've seen you start since you joined yesterday.

I prefer a gun than a shovel but to each his own

Entrenching tool. Or E-tool.

most people can't legally have a gun in their car. People in Chicago, NYC and many other cities cant even OWN a pistol and California and Hawaii are fast headed that way. That's already 20 million people who can't, and it's soon going to be 40 million more. The big cities are FAR more likely to be a threat to you than the woods. Millions of people are attacked every year and not a damned thing prevents you from being one of them. I've pointed a gun at men several times in my life. Once I had to fire over 4 men's heads, cause it was dark and they could not see my gun. The only time I've had to actually hit with a bullet, however, it was on a dog. I brained him with a .22lr handgun, from about 1m of range, as he lunged at my gonads.

We understand that, this board just isn't comprised of your target demographic for selling knife shovels. You also shouldn't go around brandishing your weapon as that can get you in a decent amount of trouble in most places both legal and in escalating the situation. If you draw your weapon it should be as a last resort and with the intent to use the force you are presenting.

Can't say that I've ever seen someone bring a shovel to a gun fight. Don't think it would turn out well for the shovel wielder though no matter how sharp or how many scuffs it had.

I feel like this thread should be filed in the same folder as the para-cord braiding thread.
You wear a fedora by chance?

An actual shovel at Home Depot is about $8 right now.

the typical range for a justfiable, civilian lethal confrontation is less than 10 ft. A fast man can cleave you in half with an etool, from 10 ft away in 3/4 second. The fastest ccw draw in the world (mine) can just BARELY match that speed, using a belt rig and a t shirt. If it's cold and you're wearing a coat over your normal ccw garment, no way in hell you're fast enough.

Nobody is cleaving anything tougher than a potato with an e-tool with any kind of alacrity.
