might cut one 6" tree before it falls apart in your hands. I guess for that price you could buy a few and use em as disposable chainsaws.

That's a good price. I just bought a Poulan 18" for $169.

If you're going to be using the chainsaw more than twice, don't buy a Homelite or a Poulan.

Yea, that's not true at all. I've got a Poulan limb saw that I got like 7 uses out of before it fell apart. It was a Poulan Pro though so that probably explains its longevity.

I got a Poulan Pro at Lowes and have cut down/cut up 3 trees so far with no issues. I didn't need a heavy duty chainsaw, so this one seems to serve my purpose well. If I were cutting trees on a regular basis I would have bought something more heavy duty.

Funny my dad told me homelite was junk don't buy that. Found a weed eater for $50 reconditioned at one of those traveling tool shows. Short story the thing ended up lasting me 6 years. And trust me I didn't take care of it at all. The only reason it isn't still running is that the fuel lines dry rotted.

After that I bought an Echo and I will say its a night and day difference but for the money it is what it is.

Homelites are junk now, but my Dad had one from the 60s, still does, and I would bet it has cut up more firewood than most.

I reality, it was probably better built back then than the quality ones now.

I guess I got lucky, a 13" Poulan lasted me 10 years and I cut quite a bit of wood with it.

That Woot deal is pretty good since it's about 1/3 the cost of a low end but reasonably decent chainsaw. Hell, buy 2 of them so you have one as a backup and you are still ahead. Most people don't need a high end chainsaw.

I would buy only if I wanted to pull my guts out trying to start it – it better come w a can of ether. Husq or stihl and you will thank me later

I have a Poulan that has lasted about 20 years, and it still goes. It's taken down many small and medium trees

About 5 years ago, I did get a better one for a particular job that I knew was beyond the capability of the Poulan. (Got a Dolmar)
