quote:

the lunker was caught on the north end of the 2,700-acre reservoir on a cold, cloudy day with the water temperature in the mid-50s.

“As far as a general area, it was here close to the marina complex,” she said.

“All I know is a plastic worm. I don’t know what colors.”

Houston’s bass clipped the lake’s previous record fish by just over a pound: According to Poverty Point’s Facebook page, the previous record holder, Keith Lofton, caught a 13.06-pounder on Feb. 2, 2012.

Thompson said Houston’s giant bass was released back into the lake after it was weighed and measured.

I caught my biggest bass ever on 12-28-2006. The big girls are feeding now...

You gotta fish all day and you'll only catch a couple... But they'll be good ones.

There was an old bass who swallowed a bird,
How absurd! to swallow a bird,
She swallowed the bird to catch the spider,
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,
I don't know why she swallowed the fly,
Perhaps she'll die.

nice bass....... but I've been told catching a bass on Poverty Point is like shooting a deer on a high fenced ranch.....

Weighted fluke on a Red River Oxbow in 20 feet of water. I was just messing around white perch fishing out of a party barge and decided to bring a bass rod.

I now fish the winter a lot more often because of that.
