I found one about 2-3 feet long when I was a teenager and my dipshit friend unloaded a .22 into it before I could even say anything, it had to have been 60-70yrs old and wasn't hurting anybody. It still pisses me off to this day and weirdly I still think about anytime I see a turtle, it could've lived another 100yrs for all I know. I'll never let anyone kill one around me again.

Why is ole BAW on the right wearing a little girl's toy watch?

Bet that hoss could put away some of mamaws biscuits and gravy.

it may not have been hurting anybody but they are hell on bass populations. if you ever live on a private lake and pay to have it stocked, you will change your position on not shooting them.

Yeah, something just irks me about killing a turtle like this. I guess it's a "respect your elders" kind of thing. Some critters just earn that right to survive.
I made a fantastic mock turtle soup for years. Tried it with real turtle soup once and it wasn't nearly as good. Meat just seemed bland and oily. Occasionally I do half and half to add a little authenticity, but honestly the mock tastes better to me.

I've seen people use alligator meat instead of turtle.

What is R2D2 doing in the background?

Looks like something on top of an old gas pump. Some sort of advertisement maybe.
