It's raining cats and freakin dogs over here, haven't decided if I'm gonna make that long walk to the stand yet or not.

Ita probably my last hunt of the year since I head back to Ohio tomorrow. I'd sure like to have another one to drop of at the taxidermist.

I'm sick and tired of mud, rain and heat in January. I can already hear someone's dogs running. They were on our place yesterday.

Good luck, fellas

I need to vent for a moment.

So the club I'm in has a trac of land about 160 acres. I was given a corner of it to hunt about a month and a half ago and understand that there are a 3 or 4 other guys that have stands out there. I've been the only one out there and have not "explored" other areas out of courtesy to those hunters with stands there.

Yesterday morning 2 club memebers show up, one with a stand there and another without and who is notorious for hunting peoples stands when they aren't there. The way I understand it is after I left @ 10 they walked the entire place and wound up killing an 8pt.

Obviously to compete in this club I need to go against a lot of things I've been taught like not hunting another mans stand without permission. I've been somewhat ridiculed about my refusal to shoot spikes and yearlings. I refuse to shoot a deer on purpous that I'd be embarassed to take a picture with just because. "If I don't shoot it someone else will".

You're not alone, most people I speak to lately have issues with "certain" other club members. 3 choices, live with it, get it changed or find another lease.

Sitting on a grass knoll, over looking a food plot

Winds - SSE 5-10
73 degrees
Rem 700 .30-06
Mosquitos greatly appreciate my hunting efforts by visiting often

Guest hunting with me (and not far away) just took a shot on a small doe. So my hunt may very well be over.

How much are you paying? At 160 acres I don't expect a whole lot, right? If you are spending a lot of money and dealing with rudy poot stuff like that, take your money elsewhere.

But if it is a cheap place for you to be able to slip off to easily and sit in the woods , enjoy nature, and maybe kill something....just deal with the BS. Perfect hunting clubs are almost impossible to find.

I hate this. A lot of people on this board disagree with me a lot on it, but I hate it.

I really don't have room to complain. Dues are realtively cheap and it goves me a place to hunt and kill deer. Just have a hard time understanding the way some people think.

Unfortunately it is a fact.....

Not saying it is right by any means and I believe that logic is a hideous way of deciding if you shoot or not.....but the statement itself, is unfortunately true amongst most smaller clubs.

Bigger clubs can get above that type of thought process but the smaller clubs fall victim to that line of thinking because it is true.

I just had 8 does standing at the very base of my stand. I'm only in a 12 ft ladder. The pack of dogs running had their attention so they stayed 3-5 feet from my tree for 5 min.

I hear ya Bro! Back in the day I had free roam of thousands of acres in prime hunting in Alabama. No hurry, no worry, things were laid back and people did the right thing....just because.

Now....shite, just to have a "semi private" (non-wma) place to sneak away to is a blessing! I couldn't give 2 shits less what others are doing as long as I get my chance to slip away and enjoy the outdoors in a comfortable place where you at least know the name of the people that are hunting on the same land.

Big difference between shooting small bucks because if you don't someone else will, and shooting a small buck because that's the best you can expect to get.

I shot a basket rack that at my old club would be illegal. Here its the 3rd biggest killed this year.

Like I said, I have no grounds to tell a man he shouldn't shoot something or hunt a certain spot. Just have a hard time wrapping my mind around some things

Dogs running....ya better keep the finger on the trigger! Those does might have stuck around for 5 minutes but "big boy" won't.....he is gonna be hauling his arse away expediently.
