Orange Beach is now Oil Beach as the oil is washing up everywhere

Some clients just called me and said its horrible watching the oil come ashore and flow into the Perdido Pass. People are moving their boats as quick as they can away from the spill and the smell is really taking its toll. He said his company had an occupancy rate of 60% yesterday but that is now down to 40% today as people are arriving and leaving.

I think this area will get totally hammered. To me the core outside of the La area will be between orange beach and Navarre

It has gotten into Perdido Pass and into the Marinas
The crazy thing is that insurance will not cover damage from oil, whether docked at the marina or driving through it. Wonder if BP will be paying for people to have their boats drydocked?

We are going over this weekend. I ended up booking at the Wharf hoping that the smell wouldn't be to bad.
It really makes me sad to hear this because we go several times every summer. Those people need tourism dollars just like new Orleans did after the stormr. I didn't feel right about going somewhere else just because of the oil.

Terrible news for sure. Seems that the Alabama Governor kind of sat on his hands till the last minute on this thing don't it?

That my friend is a FACT! I live here in AL and his arse did not show up until tar balls started hitting Dauphin Island. He is on his way out of office in Nov. and has focused his energy on more important things like stopping old people from playing fricking Bingo!!! Incredible

Is the smell really that prominent? Thats what would make me avoid the area totally.

I have no idea. It would be nice to get an update from anyone in OB or Perdido Key now.

Im a Baton Rouge transplant living in Theodore and if Riley put forth as much effort in preventing this as he did to keep maw-maws hands off the bingo machine maybe something would have gotten done! Heard Obama is going to visit the people of Magnolia Springs tomorrow. They pretty much said F the government and have been taking care of Weeks Bay on their own. Maybe he can learn something...

I guess you don't read the paper.

Mom is in Perdido and said there is spotty oil, but nothing terrible. She said the beaches are fine and there is no smell at all.
Sister is in Gulf Shores and said they were in the water all day, as well as everybody else. She said it is business as usual.
I am going to OB on Monday.

Saw quite a few tar balls today in Gulf Shores, but people were in the water and I didn't notice a smell.

Watching the news is almost as reliable as getting your news from TD right??
I used to like "your boy" Riley before he went off on the bingo hall crowd. It's time for him to go....end of discussion.

I thought Riley had already left...
