If so, what was the response from the rental agency/home owner?

Garret realty response to me
At this time we are not aware of the impact of the oil spill on our beaches. Seeing as how this is something we have not ever had to deal with (thankfully) we are taking it day by day and at this time our normal cancellation policy is in affect. Please contact our office at 1-800-537-5387 with any questions.

wife and kids are thinking about it. gulf shores at the end of may. they go every year but this might break tradition.

they stay with in-laws at camp ground so cancelling is not a big deal.

I predict Corpus Christi will see a boom in vacationers.

Wow ... that's pretty big I think for BR to do that ... I frankly think that I'm surprised in a way. That is who we always book through when going to OB.

Where's your spot, Chicken? Our's is in Destin in two weeks, but the owner of the rental is my pops in law.

OUCH for the condo owners who count on rental income to make their mortgage payments. And this is going to hit them at peak season.

I think he's scared shitless. I don't know if it's booked up all summer, but he has a pretty good spot on the first floor of a beachside facility. I'm sure the entire Mississippi/Alabama/Florida beach rental industry is brick shitting.

does he collect 50% up front and the rest a few weeks before the trip starts?...hopefully, the mortgage companies can work with the condo/home owners so they don't have to suffer too much due to this mess...

Hm, I don't know the specifics about how he receives revenue from the rental.

If I were someone who already made reservations, I wouldn't concern myself with not going. I'd still want to go just to go. The condos still have pools and there's still a bunch of fun stuff to do there.

not so sure about that...if I wanted to hang at a pool, I would check out some resort closer to my house...the beach is the main attraction...we spend most of our day out there.

We're probably going to cancel our Sandestin trip. We talked to them and they said no penalty if we reschedule. But they said the beaches were fine.

Oh, I agree. We spend our entire day at the beach. But, the condo is free for us. So, we can still go and not have to pay. That's why I would still go.

The point about the pool is correct...there will be about a thousand people out there.
