Frow what I understand, this A-Whale was designed at the last moment & has gone through several different modifications and never was tested.
Plus a huge tanker such as this is not very mobile.
On the other hand, offers were made weeks ago by other countries to come in with proven skimmer technology.
This is nothing more than a CYA story to help the dofus-in-chief save face.

Seems to me that it really would only be effective in a heavy oil spill like the Valdez where thick oil was in a small area.

Yeah the smaller skimmers are much more effective.

I wouldn't trust the numbers from St. Bernard. Somebody is always skimming down there, and it ain't the boats.

Evidently they were not willing to sign their vessel over to Haliburton and allow them to charge the goverment and take all the money and then give them what little bit was left. Oh well.

Collection on previous Thursday and Friday were marginally higher. Maybe Skimmers don't work all day on Saturdays.

I'm sorry but those boats are burning more fuel than they are collecting. what a waste.

Cashman Equipment modified several barges to work as skimmers that have been quite successful. BP has ordered 7 after Cashman proved the first one worked. Basically took an barge and cut out the front. As water is pulled in it crosses over several internal bulkheads that act as weirs and separate the lighter oil from the heavier water.
