I just read a PE firm invested $67M early on and now its worth $3.3B and YETI is looking to IPO at $5B, still a long ways off from Google at $600B. Who is buying YETI at the upcoming IPO and any predictions on how long till Yeti surpasses google in market cap?

Will Yeti Be The Coolest IPO

There are about 10 companies that make everything they make for 1/2 the cost.

No thanks.

What would the Sharks do?

Im familiar with the money board, but the YETI fan club is right here in the OT. Im interested in real world users thoughts on the luxury cooler market and its potential, not financial gurus with no real world experience.

I feel like YETI has already peaked. Like my cup, but my cooler is awful. If i had paid for it instead of winning it, I'd be pissed.

The concern is what proprietary products do they really own that differentiate them in the marketplace?

Perhaps they will go after patent protections with influx of new capital

If so, then they really might have something on their hands

I'm convinced 97% of yeti coolers are won and not bought. Or maybe people like you don't want to own up to paying 300 for a cooler so they make up a story.

YETI is losing their strong hold. A number of stores who only carried YETI have started to care cheaper competitors like RTIC. YETI has tried to stop this with no success, Academy is one example. YETI has also been told by a number of people like Academy that they need to drop their price.

I wouldn't buy in right a way.......

bro you cant race to the bottom with these other no name igloos trying to break into the market. Premium brands command premium prices. Yeti is the rolls royce of igloos. The Yeti doesnt wanna compete with these cheap bastards and their inferior coolers. This is apple vs google all over. Apple is 15% of the market place and 90% of the profits. Yeti is cleaning up on the high end of the igloo market.

RTIC

Yep. That's where I got my cup.

I understand creating a "premium" brand. But there's a difference between Land Rover being able to make luxury (albeit unreliable) cars to sell at a premium for the "prestige" and selling the SAME EXACT products for 2x the cost of your competitors.

At some point you have to separate yourself from your competitors and Yeti hasn't done that yet.

haha i was just messing around, the whole YETI brand cracks me up. Obviously theres luxury everything, there's $30k couches that are no more comfortable than regular couches and people buy them. A $5B valuation for yeti cracks me up.
