Quit bitching.

I have 8 teachers that I can think of in my wife and I's immediate family, and not one of them ever makes complaints like these on facebook. Am I just lucky, or do some of yall overblow the amount of complaining?

Some of it is exaggerated but there is a high percentage of teachers I know who love to complain.

Starting salary, minus stipends, is 48k and up.

Seriously.

I hate to agree with you, because I hate you, but yeah I've got a few teacher friends and I've rarely heard complaining.

You're just lucky.

And you people with your "not really whole summer off" thing are full of shite. My sister- in- law left school on May 29th, and goes back next week for inservice and classroom days. I don't know of anyone that has been required to work any days during June or July.

My wife and I have a set of "friends" that complain about everything. She is a teacher and he works for the federal government and they have never had a job in the private sector. They seriously have no idea how good they have it when it comes to things. I have to keep my wife grounded about how things go in the private sector because she works for the federal government as well. He basically told me that I was a bad father because I only took one week off when my son was born. I told him that if I took off 4 weeks like he did when his kid was born, then I would not have a job when I got back. They don't understand that private sector jobs don't get 6 friggin hours of annual leave every paycheck on top of their PTO.

40k a year

Not only is this number the lower bound of teaching salaries in the US, it also needs to be grossed up for comparison purposes. If you account for hours, teachers make an annualized salary well in excess of $60k per year, with generous benefits and retirement, a highly predictable schedule, outstanding job security and opaque measures of accountability. I appreciate what teachers do and think their work can be thankless, but let's not be misleading.

Most are unqualified to teach? Gtfo with that nonsense. Most teachers do a great job. Just like any job there are bad apples but you're way off on the amount who are not qualified.

As another poster pointed out, they are probably women. I am ready for the school year to start. I'm bored, out of crap to watch on Netflix, put on weight bc I don't have a set schedule, and am tired of doing honey-dos around the house. It's time for school to start!
