According to this, roads and bridge maintenance/construction needs a $700 million annual infusion. As someone who drives the roads all over this state in my job, I can attest to how bad things are. I'll pay it if I know where it is being spent. shite's not gonna fix itself.

The government makes more off a gallon of gas than do the companies that refine it. Those companies are able to complete and maintain massive infrastructure projects while turning a profit (so much that they are the poster child for liberal outrage), yet the government is floundering around and claims the answer is "more money." frick that.

The government just doesn't have enough money! That's the problem! If we give them more of our money, they will probably fix everything!

Not mentioned in the OP, Edwards wants a $0.23 per gallon tax hike. It's a significant amount.

I just don't get how we are paying more than ever before in taxes, they cut TOPS and yet every time I turn around he says they need more money. Where is it all going?

Really. Jindal raised taxes by $600 million (or was it 800) in his last year, but JBE still wanted more and got the Legislature to go along with another billion or so in increases. Yet, they STILL say we are broke.

Is this where they hit us with the "gas prices are low so it's the perfect time to raise the gas tax". Well gas is going to go back up and the tax isn't going to go away. Find the 700 mil another way. Start with all your wasteful lib programs.

First pass a law requiring that gas tax money only to be used for that purpose(roads and bridges) then maybe I'll listen

Aren't you the same dude always pissing and whining about LSU needing more money? You must be the biggest govt arse licker in the world. Drivers in La. have been getting screwed for years with gas taxes, sales taxes, ALL TAXES. But you still believe if we just keep paying taxes everything will be alright. Wake up. The roads won't get fixed no matter how much they raise taxes. It's not a revenue problem, it's a spending problem.
Ever notice La govt never says they have enough or can do it with what they've got?
They always need more.
Have fun paying $3.00/ gallon on fuel to drive on shitty roads and be told "we need more" next year and the year after.

JBE has had his eye on raising the tax since day one.
That money won't go toward roads, but probably more studies, if at all road-related.

I'm all for it as long as it is used as efficiently as the 1 Trillion dollar stimulus that was sold to us in 2009 for the same purpose.
