A major European conglomerate says one of its employees in South Korea has gone missing -- along with $100 million.

Power and robotics firm ABB (ABB) announced Wednesday that it has "uncovered a sophisticated criminal scheme" at its South Korean unit. It only noticed the huge sums had been stolen after the employee of the subsidiary disappeared about two weeks ago.

I hope someone says "two chicks at the same time", that's always hilarious.

No shite but how would you "stay" missing?

I'd probably buy some high quality forged passports and other docs with different names and never live in the same spot for more than 1 year unless it was especially rural.

this, but it would be damn difficult to stay off the grid with that kind of dough to sling. Sooner or later you are going to get caught and brought in probably by private investigators/bounty hunters hired by the company's insurer.

If you steal 100 dollars, you can just disappear but if you steal 100 million, they will find you unless they think you're already dead!

Definitely have to fake my death somehow. Fiery car crash maybe. Would also need a way to change my name at that point and start over somewhere else. Move somewhere like Thailand to start over. It's beautiful, and just sketchy enough that I bet I could accomplish this with 100M.

Oh and you'd have to find a way to change currencies. Maybe gold?

I'd buy a large island, hire an army of mercenaries and beautiful women, declare it my own country and not have extradition laws.

You've thought about stealing $100 mil already. That's obvious

Obviously, dude doesn't have $100MM in cash. It's an account somewhere - more than likely a fake identity, otherwise they'd have frozen and seized it by now. That new identity plus an absurd amount of money give him a lot of leeway.

First I'd run, then when they inevitably caught up with me I'd already have a scheme in place with their biggest competitor to steal another $100M from them. After they caught me I'd alert them to this fact and they would be forced to partner with me to take down the competitor's scheme. Although the entire time, the competitor knew this was coming, and had actually hired the world's most renowned thief to steal the original $100M + the new $100M from me before I could counter-scheme with the original employer. Little do they know that I knew the entire time and had my man watching their hired thief. In the end I walk with all of the loot.

I work for a multi-national mega corp. We have former FBI, DEA, big city detectives, etc on our Corp security team. If this is a big company (must be) they will bring the full weight of their Corp to bear and find him and/or their money.

As a wise mentor once said, if you owe someone ten thousand dollars you have a problem. If you owe someone 10 million dollars they have a problem. If you owe someone $100MM your good as dead.
