White trash grandma risked $8k to win 157k Audi R8 Spyder.

It was pure luck. She had no idea what that car cost.
ETA: Didn't realize it was from '13, but still neat to watch.

That bitch snorted a line or two of coke in the bathroom before she got called up

Wonder if she would have been able to pay the taxes on it?
Apparently you HAVE to pay taxes on your winnings before they can leave the state of California.

Should David Dellucci feel weird for having actually made it to the show but ending up with Josh Booty's leftovers(the model is his wife, Booty's ex-wife)?

She will not treat that car the way it should be. Will be trashed soon

She probably went to the dealership and they wouldn't let her even test drive it. Wrote her a check for $80k or so and sent her on her way.
I was home sick with a kid one day and watched a guy make a putt for a Bentley. They didn't give those kind of prizes away when I was growing up.

She probably couldn't afford the taxes on that car to take it home. Many Price Is Right items sit in limbo for that reason.

What a waste of a beautiful car.

Duh, you would be retarded not to

I am sure she sold it for maybe $5-10k under what it was worth and used that $ to pay the taxes. She easily walked with 100k.

You would think they would be smart enough to gather the money from friends and family, sell the prize, and pay everybody back plus interest.

Really, $8k for someone like that would make a bigger difference in her life than a car she couldn't afford to insure.
Another poster said it best - what a waste of a beautiful car.

You have to pay the taxes on game show winnings before you take possession of the prize.

It's a wonder she didn't have a heart attack with all that excitement and running around. Not only the car, but she can spend the $10K on cigs!

So what? She could get the buyer of the car to pay the taxes. I guarantee she walked with at least 100k.

You have to pay the taxes before taking possession of it if you win it in Cali where the show is based.
quote:
"Yeah, you don't just drive off the back lot with the car," Schwartz told Yahoo! Shine. "After the show, you fill out some paperwork and basically sign your life away. You say that you're going to pay the taxes on it. If you win in California, you have to actually pay the California state income tax ahead of time."
And not all of the items have a cash out option so some people just don't take the stuff at all.
quote:
There sure was: "I won $57,000-worth of items. I had to pay around $17,000 or $20,000 in taxes."
Some winners, he said, decline to take their prizes because they don't want to pay the taxes.
If winners had the option of taking cash, rather than the fridge or car, it would simplify paying Uncle Sam. But that's possible only under certain circumstances, the "Price Is Right" winner said.

Any car dealer would pay the taxes for her if the deal made sense. You are smart enough to understand that, a lot of others on here aren't.
