The town, about a two hour southeast drive by car from Rapid City, covers 6.16 acres (2.49 ha) of land. Its buildings include the sole house, the Benson residence; the Swett Tavern bar; a workshop; and three trailers. Daniel Simmons-Ritchie of the Rapid City Journal describes the buildings as "a few ramshackle buildings".[2]

In the 1940s there were 40 residents. At the time the community included a post office, a grocery store, and several houses. As time passed, the number of people owning property decreased. Eventually one person owned all of the properties and land in the community. The property was passed from person to person. In 1998 Benson acquired the town. Benson divorced a previous wife, and she received the town after he signed away the property. In 2012 Benson re-acquired the town. In 2014 Benson offered to sell the town for $399,000.[2][3] The selling price was reduced to $250,000 in 2015.[4]

Do you get to be the sheriff? If so it may be worth it.....

Turn it into one large Section 8 utopia and count your government money.

You laugh but I bet there are grants and guaranteed loans out there for small communities that would allow you to make money on the deal. Our Government is so screwed up.

Looking at it via Google Earth, it's not in that bad of a location. That bar and a smart gimmick could get passersby more than likely.

I would legalize pot, prostitution, gambling. Why even build a jail, I would be a nice sheriff. and the lone person on city council. Welcome to Dreauxville

I'd buy it, install some speedlimit cameras along the road and use the fines to upgrade the buildings to doublewides...

But the weirdest one came from a guy out of Nebraska who wanted to bring in 2,000 women from Russia, and 600 men who were felons, and he was going to build acrylic houses and run cameras 24 hours a day
They should sell it to this guy.

First you'd have to find people that wanted to live in a town the size of some peoples' backyard
