Depending on what role you play in her life. If you were there as much as possible then there is definitely a problem. Ultimately it's the child's choice, but it would suck.

Because let's make this all about the father, regardless of how the child feels.

My daughter adopted by my wife before we got married, and as soon as we got engaged, I was daddy. Now we have my father and siblings introduced into her life, but we didn't force her to call anyone papa/uncle/aunt until she was ready. My dad likes to be called paw-paw, but she already had a paw-paw from her birth family, so dad had to get used to being called something else.

As long as the parent isn't trying to coach the kid into calling them what they want, it's not an issue, and something the birth father needs to get over.

"This guy is married to your mom and takes care of you, but you better not call him dad." That doesn't work.

I think the kids who are okay to call another man dad, probably had biological fathers who don't give a shite anyway. Granted at a young age they are probably influenced.

If it were to happen to me, I'd raise hell.

I had a friend who dated this girl in college who had a 5 year old son. They dated for like 6 months and got her kid to call my friend daddy even though her real dad was actually a good guy. Weirdest thing ever.

I'm a better father to my stepdaughter than her real father is.

But, I don't expect her to call me dad, and she doesn't. He tries, and that's all one can ask for.

My wife had a kid prior to us meeting. He was four when we started dating. 9 now. He calls me dad. His real dad doesn't do jack shite. Maybe Skypes him 4 times a year and sees him about a day or two a year.

He called me dad on his own. Wasn't something I expected or forced. Considering I'm the one paying for all his stuff right now (wife is staying at home with our baby) and worrying about his college expanses I give zero fricks what his bio dad thinks.

I see nothing wrong with this. The only problem I have is when you have desperate needy bitches who make their kids call another man "dad".

Why can't she call them both paw-paw? Both my grandparents are paw to me. Since they are hardly ever at the same location, it's not very confusing.
