What value does he have if he can't breed?

He should become Texas's next Bevo.

He's the current world record holder.

Also, big steers have been cloned and brought back as bulls after it was realized how big their horns got. You typically castrate them at a very young age when their horns are just getting started.

So technically, he could breed again...

For anybody wondering, the current record for a longhorn sold at public auction is $160,000.

I think only cows and steers actually get the big horns, if he would have been left a bull,he wouldn't have developed horns like that.

That's absolutely correct.

ETA: The largest horned bull is Cowboy Tuff Chex.

He measures 98.3 inches tip to tip...

He'll probably make a good return just in appearances.

Longhorns make good "pets" actually... Very gentle and docile creatures.

I think that's a really good guess. Someone commented on the announcement that if someone famous/"stupid rich" catches wind of the auction, the sky is the limit.

A Ted Turner vs. Mark Cuban bidding war would be awesome.

Imagine those horns on the front of an old drop top caddy, that is where the value comes from
