Working at a Ski Resort in Colorado

Anyone here ever work for a ski resort out in Colorado for a few months during the winter season? I've been looking into it and have no previous experience, except for snowboarding on vacation, but I'd like to get some more info from other people rather than blindly signing up for it on some website. I've been on CoolWorks the past few days looking up different resorts, but if someone here has done this and has any recommendations for where to work that's what I'm looking for. I'd need to find a resort that provides housing for its employees and possibly transportation since I have an older vehicle and I'm not sure how it's handle the change in climate from the south to the Midwest. Appreciate any and all helpful advice. Thanks.

There's always toilets that need cleaning.

It's a little late now but you basically need no experience to instruct kids lessons. Now whether they need anyone at all, and if they need ski or snowboard is another question. I know some people at copper I could ask for you. They have dorms there and a pretty rad group of instructors

I'm going to see how many responses I get on here and then do more research on it all but I'd really appreciate any connections you'd be willing to offer. I'd be fine with starting out operating the ski lifts and then instructing after I get up to speed on snowboarding and skiing. I'm 24 and trying to find something to do while I figure out what I want to do with my degree. I'm open to a change in scenery cause what I'm doing right now isn't helping me progress any further in life.

I did Vail in 2011-2012 after I graduated. It was fun but its really for ski bums who just want the free lift tickets or people without any future plans. I didn't do it a 2nd year(even though I would have liked to) because well I wanted to move on with my life.
If you can have a year-round job in a ski area all the more power to you, but for most people you work the 5-6 months during ski season and that's it.
I worked on the mountain and at one of the hotels. I did all kinds of things... scan lift tickets, rentals, banquets, hotel operations. This was 4 years ago not sure how it is today. There were days when working on the mountain or on the lifts sucked because it was -10 degrees, snowing and windy, and no matter how much you bundled up you would get cold, but you rotated around so you weren't in the same spot doing the same thing all day.
I rented an apartment for $750 a month. I was by myself. Wasn't the nicest apartment but it did its job.
It was fun. Had a lot of fun with the people I worked with. Free lift tickets for off days. Got to know the locals and such.

I have some friends that work at a restaurant at the resort in Telluride. They seem to love it and they make pretty decent money.
I think the housing situation kind of sucks for them though...with that being said they compensate for it by taking advantage of Colorado's "amenities"

My brother worked at Copper Mountain for a few years. He made it up there in a 2wd S-10. He just used chains, carried a shovel and didn't drive like a dumbass.

I've got a 99 4Runner with ~204K miles, no chains but I do have a nice shovel. Relatively no problems with it but I don't know how the climate will affect it. Think it'll hold up driving cross country and a real winter?

I know several people that work for Vail Resorts, both at the different resorts in management positions and in the corporate office in Broomfield.
Given the fact that you'd be applying for an entry level job, depending on which job, I could ping the right person to at least spotlight your application/resume.

I drove a 1993 Honda Civic around the UP of Michigan in the middle of god damn February.
You'll be ok.
