Dryer just went out on me and it was loud. I hate noise, you guys have any experience with new dryers that are close to silent?

hmm. They are all very quiet now.
You do not want electrolux, you would probably want GE or ones that use mylar glides instead of bearings. But even they make noise.
The Korean units are pretty damn quiet as they both rip off German unit design.
Most people buy the dryer as a match to a washer they wanted. A dryer is basically a dryer, they are almost all the same. (looks different but internally similar)
Whirlpool - Maytag and the like use rollers front and rear which are pretty quiet. Frigidaire uses a ball bearing in the back that is quiet but gets very loud when it starts failing.
You are hearing the fan no matter what, no dryer will not have fan noise.

I have a ge. Very quiet in my opinion. Don't know the name/number offhand but its the bottom of line actually.
