I apologize in advance for posting this and I ask for your understanding, but need to type this out as I know that it will bother me for a long time.

I am in AZ this week, going between Phoenix and Mesa. This evening I am driving back to the hotel in Mesa and decided to stop at McDonald’s for a meal. I walk in and there is a little girl, about 5 years old, sitting in a booth eating ice cream. She has a pink dress on with a pink blanket and no shoes. I look around the place and beside the workers; I am the only one there. The girl serving me looks at me and says, yeah, somebody abandoned her here, so we gave her an ice cream and we called the police.

So, police walk in at this same time and I am listening as they speak to the little girl. She had come in with her mother and her mom told her to play in the play area and she would order them some food. So, when she finished playing, she came out and her mom was gone. The police officers asked her more questions before leaving with her.

The McDonald’s worker asked if I was ready to order. I just looked at her and walked out. I would have started bawling if I had tried to tell her that I could not eat. Why in the frick do people do this to kids? Makes me sick to think I have two dogs at home that are treated and living better than this little girl.

Again, I apologize for having to dump this in the forum. I have a feeling I will have a long night of no sleep.

Ashamed but may end up being better for that little girl if her parents don't love her

If the mom is a shitty enough person to do something like this, the girl is probably better off without her

That's fricked up, I couldn't imagine doing that to a child. Mom should be thrown under the jail

Yeah, parents like this should simply be put down. Sickening and really sad story, especially since she's about to be bouncing around the system known as Foster Care.

She's likely to be adopted fairly quickly due to her age and lack of time in the foster system. Sadly, this is assuming she is white or hispanic.

That's really sad, but maybe as sad as it is, it's better for the child.

And thanks for sharing....
Sending prayers her way.

Damn. Don't see that too often, but its tragic as hell. Hopefully they find this kid a permanent home before foster care can screw her up any more. I hope that this tragic situation turns into a good thing for the girl, in that she can find a family who will actually love her and get her in a structured and properly educated environment.

There is evil and sadness in this world that is incomprehensible, surreal and makes me feel despondent and hopeless at times...

Mother of frick I have a sickeningly vivid mental image of my 5 year old in that situation.
