Taper off very gradually under a doc's supervision. Do not take this lightly. If done correctly, usually symptom free. If not-can frick u up.

Not that anybody cares, but about 6 years ago I was going through a lot and needed them. Doc tried me on a few things. A couple caused bad sexual side effects, and a couple caused nasty allergic reactions. Finally found the sweet spot with Pristiq, but after 5 years I think its effectiveness has worn off, and I don't need them anymore. Only reason I still take it is that I dread the withdrawal effects. But it's time. Hope I don't kill anybody.

it took me almost a year to wean off Lexipro. I tried cold turkey without doctors advice and was losing it after a few days and it got very scary. Took 3/4 dose for 3 months then a 1/2 dose and then a 1/4 dose...

Slowly ramping down is the only way. And when that peen starts becoming harder as you back off, depressing thoughts go any!

Go to the Website : The Road Back.

Always consult a medical doctor before lowering or stopping psychiatric medications.

I've been having crazy suicidal thoughts, headaches and weird fricking dreams recently when trying to get off of them myself. It's messing my head up.

I got scared real bad. Of course, it was just straight cold turkey trying to stop.

IDK. I've been on them for so long, maybe I can't stop.

Wean off slowly, 3 weeks of decreasing dose should be fine. Increase your endogenous (natural) neurotransmitters by staying busy with hobbies, chores, sex, and daily exercise in the sunshine.

Order this book: Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy By Dr. David Burns.

Pills don't give us skills to handle the hard knocks of life, but the skills can and should be learned. Good luck!

I got pregnant while taking lexapro and had to stop cold turkey. I didn't have very many mental side effects (I don't think) but physically I felt like I was always running a fever. Shakes, chills, dizzy, flushed. It was bad. Wean off for sure if you can.

I've tried weaning off numerous times, bit whenever I quit taking it entirely it feels like a hornets nest inside my head (brain zaps). Therefore I still take the lowest possible dosage, not because I need it but because without it my head is all fricked up.
