Will we ever be able to shut down the greeting card industry?

Big Card has carved out numerous 'holidays' to keep itself afloat and now it keeps raising prices. Almost $5 for some card with empty platitudes? Will technology ever sink these clowns

Nope. As long as husbands and boyfriends are forgetful and uncreative fricks, the card industry will have a niche.

It's kind of tradition to buy my mom a cheesy card for her birthday and Mother's Day. She keeps them all.

This is what Dollar General is for. Bought a .55 cent card today as opposed to the $6 I have to shell out on Friday.

Yeah, but does it play some cheesy song when you open it?

Screw cards. Call the person and tell them happy birthday. Cards are a waste of money and e-cards aren't very intimate.

I always felt like the greeting card industry and the printer ink cartridge industry were in cahoots.

Every time I'd try to print my own cards at home, it would never print correctly and I'd end up using a shite ton of ink, only to end up having to buy a card anyway.

We need our top people looking into this.

Yeah but many women, myself included, are very sentimental and want cards. My husband made the mistake of not giving me a card on our anniversary one year because we were on vacation and he figured he didn't need a card.

Yeah that didn't go over too well with me

one of my exes had probably 30-40 cards in a drawer that she bought when we weren't even dating...and then would give them to me. So she bought them with her previous BF in mind and gave them to me...messed up.

Exactly. Why you trying to take away my out when I forget. Greeting cards and gift certificates to the spa can be picked up on the way home after work.

I don't stockpile cards like that. I just keep all the ones given to me(I have tossed ones from exes though).

But the bday cards my grandma gave me years ago and she wrote short notes in....those are priceless to me now.

Nope, because women demand that we buy cards. You could buy her a diamond and platinum rolex and if you forget to buy a card the gift becomes thoughtless.

I showed her though. I go to Walmart and buy the Mahogany line of cards. They are usually cheaper and the characters in the cards all have nice tans.
