I asked on the travel board but know I'll get more info from the all knowing OT.

I need help from the posters who live in this area. We have a vacation planned to Blue Ridge/Bryson City next Friday-Nov 25. Called rental place yesterday and they don't issue refunds because they said this was an Act of God (although I've read arson) but would reschedule. 1) can't reschedule at this point 2) really want to go for my toddler to do all the cool stuff (Santa and Christmas related) they have to offer, but obviously don't want to risk our health.

With a chance of rain Saturday, do the locals feel that we will be ok by next Friday? I've gotten a ton of mixed information via Internet and talking to people there. TIA.

I'm already losing mine. This is the vacation we planned after our last vacation was ruined by the flood. And is supposed to be our last one as a family of three. 2016

I can tell you that all local news stations are not predicting rain in the near future. It's been smoky in downtown Atlanta on days with north wind.

40% chance of rain on Saturday in East Tennessee (right now). I'm sure that will drop as the week continues forward. That being said, there is a cold front moving through...highs are currently in the upper 60s and low 70s near Knoxville. High on Sunday is supposed to be upper 40s.

its not going to rain.

The smoke might die down a bit.

Its hazy out, it wont ruin your day, but if anyone has asthma issues they will have problems

I live in Greenville, SC and it is really smoky here to the point I worry about my clothes smelling if I'm out much. The area you are in, or any probably depends on wind, but rescheduling may not be a bad idea.

Bump the thread this weekend and I'll give you an update if I see it

I'm in Asheville and the smokiness is definitely noticeable. Forests burning is part of the whole magical "mother nature" thing. It happens, particularly in La Nina years. Can't wait for it to rain though. My trees are not happy.

I live very close to Bryson City. The smoke is very dense and when the wind is just right, ash falls like snow. They're hoping that the Shooting Creek fire will join with the Nantahala fire soon and burn itself out. We've been forecasted for rain at least once a week for three months and it hasn't happened. I wouldn't count on it. It is arson and I can verify that. As of right now, you're SOL, baw.

Since it is arson; I'm wondering if that nullifies the "act of God" clause in our contract. She said no refunds due to that, but this isn't an act of God if arson.
Right?

And thanks, scooba.

That would probably end up being the rental person's excuse. She actually told me that if I rescheduled she was certain it would rebook within a day or two. Cause apparently everyone is dying to go to the mountains for a smoky wildfire vacation.

Hell, I live 10 minutes across the Savannah River from Augusta in SC and it may as well be on fire as thick as the smoke is, and has been, for the past week.
