"Wild Wild East" drug sting in New Orleans East nets 111 arrests

A six-month drug investigation in eastern New Orleans resulted in 111 arrests, authorities said Friday. Officers also seized 32 guns, a ballistic vest, nine vehicles, almost $1 million and quantities of heroin and crack cocaine.
U.S. Attorney Kenneth Polite Jr. said the investigation began in July, as a result of "a sharp increase in shootings and homicides in eastern New Orleans." Drug Enforcement Administration and FBI agents, along with New Orleans police and Louisiana state probation and parole officers targeted violent repeat offenders who were selling heroin, crack and guns. They went undercover to make buys and used phone taps to gather evidence, Polite said.

The Wild Wild East is going to known as the "Killing Fields" because you take that many people off the streets and the street vendors will start battling it out to take the old street vendors place. 10 street vendors want to take that 1 street vendors place and the hot dog vendors will see a lot of ketchup spilled on the streets.
