So the dog got out of the backyard without anybody knowing and apparently got his arse into a bad situation with another dog or a frickin hawk or owl tried to snatch him up. Don't know because nobody saw the "attack".
End result was $975 for emergency visit last night and $3,200 more today for major surgery, and stabilize broken ribs, back etc..

My take is the thing is 8 he had a good run, but over $4k is too much. Pour one out for a fallen homie and move on.

Is that cold? (she said it was)

I love my dogs but I'm not sure I'd drop 4k on either of them.

I would have just put the dog down the second I found him.

I wouldn't blame you. Women are soft. My wife or mother would want it done, but I would pull the cord on the pooch.

Bullet to the back of the head. He won't feel a thing. Quick, painless and his suffering is over.

I'd pay $4k to get rid of my dog. Damn sure I wouldn't pay that to save the little frick head.

I'll vote for the you shouldn't take in a dog if you aren't going to do what is necessary.

Of course, you put the dog down if its the right thing to do, but not because of $4,000.

Though, I'm curious if you're getting hosed too.

Put it down. Probably won't be the same anyhow. In a couple years you'll start dealing with health issues regardless.

A little extreme, don't you think? He didn't let the Yorkie get attacked on purpose.

No. A new dog will love her and be just as loyal as this one. She'll have forgotten about it in 6 months. No way in hell I'm spending 4 grand on a dog. I've loved all my dogs I've had my entire life, but I realize they're dogs.
