Wife's iPhone 4 battery rapidly losing charge?

We both have iPhones (mine is jailbroken), but for some reason hers won't hold a charge any more and it will literally lose 25% in a hour even if she doesn't use it at all.. I've never had this problem and I tried to search for answers online but didn't find anything helpful. I updated her to 5.1.1 and updated all of her apps and it's still happening. I was thinking about bringing it to the apple store but her 1 yr warranty is up i believe so not sure how that works?

Anyone have any ideas what this could be and how to fix it? And by fixing the problem I don't mean buying a different type of phone for the apple haters waiting to pounce..

Tell her to stop using the vibrating function all day.

ETA: Real answer. She has programs running in the background. Double click the button and it will show them. Turn them off.

No she doesn't. That's not how multitasking works in iOS.

LINK

Let me be as clear as I can be: the iOS multitasking bar does not contain "a list of all running apps". It contains "a list of recently used apps". The user never has to manage background tasks on iOS.

Delete all programs running in the background, delete cache and browsing history, hold both buttons down and do a hard reset. Also make sure Bluetooth isn't running, locate me isn't running and adjust screen brightness.

Bring it to an Apple Store, bad battery most likely.

This drains mine. I only use it when I'm in the car.

Is she running an exchange email program? If so, that may cause the problem. Had the same problem. Went to the Apple store. suggested removing the email account and re installing it. That worked.

My dad had this problem. The Apple store is not a fun place, but if one person tells you they can't help you, just keep asking a different person. Eventually someone will probably just replace the phone. Dad got a brand new one no charge.

Do make sure they can't claim water damage though...my battery started dying faster after it got wet.

If its a factory defect it doesn't matter if you have a warranty or not. They should fix it or replace it.

Exchange email is where the phone syncs with the computer for email, calendar, and contacts. If she has a tulane email, then it's prob an exchange email. My wife works for LSU as has one

About the exchange email idea, you can keep that on just change the way it checks for new mail. Set it only to check for mail manually, otherwise it does it at the set intervals, which may be every 2 minutes. Unless your job requires this, it is unnecessary. If your job does require it, they need to buy you a new phone.
