Standing elbow to elbow with thousands of other people out in the wind and cold, seeing the same damn floats year after year, when you can get a much better view of it all from the comfort of your own home

Same with New Year's Rockin Eve in Times Square... why the hell would anyone want to pack into Times Square like sardines with hundreds of thousands of other people out in the cold, I do not see the appeal at all

frick no. Packing in on a New York sidewalk out in the cold is not something that sounds like fun at all.

I've never even watched the parade on TV.

I did it once. Got to arrive at 11pm though and get on a balcony for the ball drop.

Screw waiting there all day.

Way overrated but I can say I did it

If you wanted to watch giant things full of hot air for a long time you could just turn on The View

Sometimes different people find enjoyment in different activities.

Same reason people attend NYE in Times Square.

Why attend anything live? Football, music etc.

Why, you ask? Because my father was a stern man. He forbad us to participate in any activities that he thought were associated with the common man. The Thanksgiving Day Parade was first on the list.

I have been to Times Square on NYE. It was crazy seeing all the stuff I saw, but that also was the first time I had been to NYC.
I, too, do not have any desire to return to put up with those crowds, the weather, the everything.

I went a few years back - but, we did it on the 4th floor in a ballroom of a hotel on the route. They had floor to ceiling windows and big comfortable chairs to sit and enjoy. On the way there, I was astonished at the mobs of people. Doing Mardi Gras in the quarter ain't got shite on Macy Day Parade along the route.

It's better you're not around crowds spreading your herpes.

Just imagine how fricking miserable it must be to be a cop/firefighter/paramedic during this and the NYE celebration.

Damn. Just like the Mardi Gras. Why would people go see that??

Also, You think there ain't no place to pee on bourbon st? NYC Times Square at NYE ball drop has nowhere at all and no booze for sale. Glad I've done it but never again.

Well now it is too late to go because I am about 50 years older than the target audience, but I suspect I would be disappointed that the balloons are not as big as they look on TV.

Parades are like circuses or state fairs or NASCAR races to me, seen one, seen 'em all. I went to the Helena-West Helena Christmas parade a few times so I am covered.
