Edit: I'm in central Alabama more or less and assume the true is for most of the South

I know the OT has a lot of weather gurus.
I also know we had a cold snap with a decent snow for a couple of days just a few weeks ago. But I also know we've slept with the windows open more nights since December began this year than I can ever remember.

I understand the idea of global warming isn't explained or proved in a single month or even a single season.

Just wondering why this winter is so mild so far.

Through February.

Comes from the Pacific

Google can offer way better an explanation than I can. Pretty interesting. The earth has a lot of tricks to regulate it's climate

The higher temps have caused the mild winter.
Look no further than that. No El ninos, polar vortex crap to blame.
Just simply blame the temperatures.

It's been 35-45 degrees for 2-3 days then 65 the next few days here in north Texas.

Wish it would just stay cold.

This is the beginning of the next ice age as the temp has peaked. Like the longest day of summer, it has reached the reversal point.

Don't say you weren't warned.

In the south, we generally don't have long spells of very cold weather, even in January. It is not at all uncommon to have warm spells like we are currently having.

I'm in Seattle and it's not gotten above 45F for 2 months. I loved the mild southern winters and will miss golf in January and having the A/C on at Christmas...
