Would you feel better if it were in the heart of Kansas?

Same reason why bowling is more popular in the midwest than in the south.

Because it snows there all the damn time and people need a massive indoor space for shopping and entertainment during the winter months.

Let's see... the (at the time) largest indoor mall in the most cold and boring place I have visited. No brainer?

Which is a Mall of America in its own right.

I think a better question would be "why do malls still exist?" You can get anything you want cheaper from the comfort of your own home and you don't have to tolerate terrible parking or fat people walking painfully slow.

Seriously, who the frick is still going to the mall?

Not even the biggest mall in America. That award goes to Edmonton, Alberta.

Because a big arse mall perfectly sums up what America is all about.

Once they got rid of arcades and Orange Julius, I was out.

Indoor malls are basically a dying breed. Except for where it's as cold as Canada much of the year.
