Why is Grand Isle in Jefferson Parish?

Tried looking this up and can't find a answer on it. Port Fourchon is in Lafourche, so doesn't seem to have anything to do with oil.

Just curious.

some shady back room deal decades ago. JP wanted gulf acces or something.

It makes little sense. So you get a ticket in Grand Isle and you have to go to court way in Gretna or Metairie?

Mafia was/is in NOLA. They wanted protection for smuggling and other illegal activities on a coastal town (location, location), so it became part of Jefferson Parish. It's that simple.

Because when the parish lines were drawn it was connected via land to the rest of the parish.
