Seems that over the past 10 years, towels have stopped being able to absorb moisture. I went to the store to buy new towels and all I see are these "plush" towels that "look great" but can't seem to dry someone off. Is terry cloth a mail order only type purchase these days?

Dollar General towels are probably closer to Velcro than cotton

If they are not 100% cotton, you are going to have issues.

1. Printed towels only dry on one side

2. Dryer sheets make towels 'greasy' and non absorbant. Tell your wife to stop putting the bounce sheets in the loads with towels.

100% cotton will dry better than a blended fabric.

I dry myself with freshly sheared lambswool after every shower like all other OT ballers do

Quit buying your towels from Wal-Mart and they might actually work right.

It's the fabric softener. Quit using fabric softener.

Rougher towels seem to dry better and soap up better. I noticed that a long time ago when I bought some Nautica towels, which aren't as effective as my Wamsutta. The Nautica feel better to touch and look a little fancier, but the Wamsutta work better. Fabric sheets aren't a factor as I don't use them.

I sit out out on the front porch and air dry. Fresher feeling and my lint trap stays a whole lot cleaner.

Cotton towels
Gotta get the 'newness' off the towel with several washes.
Don't use fabric softener or dryer sheets
