Why do sushi eaters want to force everyone else to eat sushi?

That shite is disgusting.

Sushi people are like cross fitters or Jehovah's Witnesses.

Good sushi takes time to learn to appreciate, like a good bottle of bourbon. If you don't drink and someone hands you a glass of Pappy neat, odds are you aren't going to like it.
Normally people don't start with big pieces of raw fish but over time, good fresh fish, and properly prepared rice is an incredible meal...

I personally love sushi, but I understand some people don't like it, that's cool. However bitching about someone ordering what they want on their birthday is ridiculous.
I feel sorry for the lady who just wants to enjoy her birthday meal at the office once a year and has this asshat complaining about her choice.
The world doesn't revolve around OP. Like every sane person on here has posted, order something else or bring your lunch today.

There's no such thing as "sushi people". Almost everyone eats it these days.

Holy hell you guys are sensitive. You honestly think I said something to this woman? Unless she reads the OT (she doesn't) and knows my screen name (she doesn't), she has no idea I don't care for her choice.

That's only because they are literally being forced to. The method of forceful persuasion can vary, but I usually hold a gun to their head.

Says the guy complaining about having to order off a sushi menu once a year.
Too funny.

I don't understand the fascination with it other than it's the trendy thing to do I guess.
It was trendy 20-25 years ago maybe but anything that lasts that long is long past a "trend."
You seriously lose all credibility when you outright stated that you'd prefer Chipotle and frickkng Jason's Deli over anything on the menu at the neighborhood sushi joint. Jesus man get out of your midwestern safe space and live a little.

I'm not a huge fan of sushi , but there dare certain rolls I can do. But I mainly order something else. I have been to sushi restaurants dozens of times and never left hungry.
This reminds me, though--I went to my son's school a few weeks ago for their Thanksgiving lunch. This hipster douche couple in across from me brought their own sushi and chopsticks to eat. Came off as super pretentious to me.

I had a girl ready to vomit trying sushi for the first time on a date.

The sushi restaurant doesn't have any fried chicken or pork dishes?
I call bullshite on that.
You sound like a whiney little girl.

Most have beef teriyaki as well.

This. Sushi Yama is the best quality, and Sushi Masa is the best combo of value and quality. Kaminari by LSU is the cheapest at lunch.

I wish your coworkers could see this so they could order sushi for every birthday. Then again I would actually enjoy that though so I would be jealous of you.

I'm not a huge fan either but not for the reasons most object to it. I'm just not a huge fan of rice, a curse for someone from LA, but I love raw fish. I love poke, crudos, and really enjoy Omakase places like Uchi, Morimoto, Nobu, and Kata Robata to name a few. I'm sure none of these exist in OP's land of meat and potatoes but I honestly feel sorry for people who are so used to safe and bland that anything different becomes intolerable and, by the looks of it, this has happened to OP.
My motto, try anything that you know someone else likes with an open mind and if you don't like it, fine. You don't need to eat anymore and you don't need to be an a-hole about it.

That's beyond pretentious but sushi didn't make that person a douche, that kind of person was an a-hole at birth. This is especially true considering it is perfectly acceptable to eat sushi with your hands...
