re: Why do some people try to make you feel guilty about owning a purebred dog?

My dogs are purebred and come from an excellent bloodline. Never apologize for what you want. It's your dog. If they want to give you shit, let them. Just remember its your life and its your dog.

And yeah, I dropped a lot of dough on my dogs. But they're worth it.

What if you want a puppy, not a lot of purebred puppies at the pound or rescue.

So no one should have children because there are tons of good kids at orphanages?

People only buy bred dogs for "status"?

Getting a rescue is great. But not for everyone. Some want from a breeder Really either way is fine IMO. Just personal choice

This is how I feel. Purebred, mix-breed, one is not better than the other. It's a personal preference and if you know the type of breed you like/want and where to get it I don't see the problem in doing so.

And here it is. This is exactly what is wrong with some people. Heck, this is what is wrong with most people on the O-T.

Newsflash: Dogs are NOT people.

People are more important than dogs.

Those are just pol who are jealous that you have that kind of money to throw around/invest. A good quip would be-frick you, my dog will live longer and not be retarded in old age. Plus I wouldn't want somebody else's problem dumped on me. Oh wait I live in America.

A status symbol? Please. I don't see how my dog elevates or deteriorates my status in any way. It's a dog.

I was out drinking one night and started talking to these 2 fat bitches who did pit bull rescue and pretty much told me I was a terrible person for not owning one as well. I told them Michael Vick was my favorite football player just to watch their heads explode.

My point is its your dog, get it from whoever you want.

re: Why do some people try to make you feel guilty about owning a purebred dog?
There are a few reasons for it. Many "breeders" are simply running a puppy mill, and they are forcing their animals to live in bad conditions until they are sold.

The sheer number of dogs that are left at shelters, many of which are put down, drives the pro rescue dog lovers.

If you actually look around you can get the type of dog you want at a shelter. Also many breeds have established rescues throughout the country.

Personally, if you are just looking for a companion then in most cases it is silly to spend all of that money on a pure breed.

I picked up my dog from a family who had two pure bred labs that were getting on in life so they wanted to breed them. I paid 200 dollars for my dog and could not be happier.his personality is so great I refuse to clip him so when the time comes I can keep one of his puppies
