They don't, but Gilead has slowed with profits so they're looking for other avenues to sell Harvoni/Sovaldi.

Also, all of these answers are wrong for the most part. There are plenty of cases, but it's no big epidemic. The stock is at a 52 wk low, great value and a 3% dividend to ease the pain.

Is it true that you can give it to yourself, if you participate in IV drug use?

By not even sharing a needle, just reusing your own.

Yep. My uncle died from it fifteen years ago because of blood transfusions. At least now there's a cure.

What does hep C do to a person?

Causes inflammation of the liver, which leads to scarring/cirrhosis, which almost always leads to liver failure or liver cancer.

It's almost impossible to get from sex. You get if blood to blood contact. Transfusions, intravenous drugs. Even sharing a bloody coke straw/bill.

Some people have it for years and have almost no bad effects. Some people don't make it long at all. I don't think the medical community knows why that is.

Then once the boomers die off this current generation will be next in line seeing how we are having an explosion of IV drug use again

I don't think that is completely accurate. Back when most of the boomers were doing IV drugs, shite like AIDS wasn't around, and people were much more lax in their needle hygienic behaviors. You would think that people are more knowledgeable now and cleaner in their shooting up habits.

shite. If sharing a needle is what is needed to get high, I bet 99/100 would do it if they were sick enough.

And if it can be caught by just reusing your same gear, then that's a whole other can of worms.

My sister had a blood transfusion in 1985 when childbirth ripped her to shreds.

Bad blood in the transfusion gave her Hep C.

Did you not read the CDC link about the comeback of Hep C and how it's tied to the explosion of IV drug use the last decade or so?

Because pharma came out with a bazillion dollar drug to cure it and they know baby boomers have medicare and the drug will be covered. Same question a nurse friend and I discussed. My question was, Why are baby boomers in a class more susceptible to Hepatitis C, than any other class of people? It's a medical sham!!!

It wasn't that long ago that hep non a non b was reclassified as hep c. I had a friend that was a blood bank manager for abbot labs in the mid 80's and he sold the testing equipment for blood donations.

I imagine that if you had surgery requiring a transfusion prior to the mid eighties that it would be like playing Russian Roulette regarding blood borne diseases.

Don't judge and don't hate.

I know you're pretty stupid, but do you really not know what the CDC is?

You and your nurse friend are very, very uninformed

Medicare will pay for it
