Heroin and promiscuity

IV drug use and fricking and bad blood transfusions was my guess.
Even still, the numbers seem high.

IV drug use
This. There was a time when doing lots of drugs was socially acceptable and the experimentation of the 70s and 80s has left many 55-65 year olds in poor health.

Bad blood. My younger brother has it. Got bad blood after a car wreck. They didn't have the scrutiny they have now

What does hep C do to a person?

Know a guy who died this week from it :(

bad blood transfusions
This accounts for alot of it, unfortunately

The really terrible part is that it's curable...
For like $90k.
They can't afford it.

My aunt died a few years ago of hep C following blood transfusion after giving birth.
My stepmom has it from the same thing, but was treated with the experimental drugs recently

Back in the 70s and early 80s, there were blood plasma units in Louisiana prisons. Inmates could go "bleed" for some money in their inmate accounts.
Blood plasma sites surrounded every university. You will probably hear from some on here that donated plasma every week for drinking money.
The infection controls in place now such as latex gloves, sharps dispensers, and disposable medical instruments weren't nearly as common.

Can not cause any problems for years and years and then cause you to need a liver transplant or die when you get older, like the Boomers are starting too.
It's crazy that it costs so much to be cured, but I don't see that changing.

Hep B can live outside the body for almost two weeks. It can live on a doorknob. Hep B is as deadly as AIDS. Since the early 90s there has been a vaccine for it.

IV drug use
Then once the boomers die off this current generation will be next in line seeing how we are having an explosion of IV drug use again.
One more example of there not being a dime's worth of difference between the two groups.
