Why do people shop at Dollar General?

I just went to a Dollar General for the first time in my life. I need to buy coat hangers. As I went through the store I noticed that shite is no cheaper than Walmart. They have a terrible selection and the place was filthy.
For some reason I thought everything in the store was $1 - boy was I wrong.
Why do people shop at these places?

because people are stupid
they are persuaded and tricked into believing that the name of the store somehow gives the consumer a good deal on the items inside.
it's like the people who shop at sams who assume they are getting good deals because of the bulk purchase. truth is most items at sams cost more than equivalent items at walmart.

I would guess it's easier to get in and out of than a place like Wal-Mart. Thankfully I don't frequent either.

That place used to be a solid score when it came to house cleaning products. Not anymore.

Because I am rich enough to pay a few bucks more than fighting Walmart. It is a hell of a lot closer to me and has a better selection than the small grocery store near me on a few items.

I love my local Dollar General for cleaning supplies and bbq vienna sausage on my way to camp.

They offer products in unique sizes that many lower income people can or think they can afford. I think convenience also has something to do with it.

Dollar General is good but Dollar Tree is the best dollar store since everything is a dollar or less.

Hit up dollar general on way to the camp. Last stop is DG. Chips. Jerkey. Water. Any other junk food I can grab. Peanut butter for the deer. If they only sold beer like some others do.

Yes some things are more expensive ... I don't mind paying for convenience and clean.
