I started using disposable razors (Mach #) a few months ago. For the past 3 years I've just used a beard trimmer with no guard every few days.

What are the other options and where do you buy them? Wal-marks doesn't have any safety razors for sale as far as I can tell.

Az I'd say if you can afford it just go online and pull the trigger on a safety razor between 100-300 bucks

And get a badger hair brush or if you're opposed to killing animals get the softest thickest synthetic you can find

Under 50 dollar starter kit

It really doesn't matter the cost they just tend to be around 100 or so because you buy one and never need to buy another and replacement blades are cheaper than dirt

I was fortunate enough to inherit mine from my father who got his from his grandfather

You can probably find some cool ones on eBay that are old and have a history from a company long gone if you are into that.

You will never get a smoother shave other than maybe a straight razor

I pay $6/mo for four cartridges.

I only use one cartridge per month. I'm shaving my face for $18 a year. Explain to me how I'm paying "more".

It's a really good starter kit and if you browse around you may find one that more suits your needs or preferences but the beauty of safety razors is their simplicity and you can't really make a shitty one

And if you've never used one go to a barber and ask him how to use it or watch some videos

YOU DO NOT APPLY PRESSURE

With safety razors you just let it glide and get the best shave of your life. If you treat it like a disposable you'll look like the joker in batman

A safety razor would be around $36, so $3 / month for that.

50 blades for $13, or $0.25 per blade.

If you only use 1 blade a month, $3.25 / month.

If you use a new blade evey week, $4 / month.

I use Feathers and now that I am experienced I run it around my face like a disposable.

So still more expensive than what I'm currently doing.

I'm not knocking your method, I just don't understand how it's so much cheaper than using DSC for 3 months out of the year.

I also don't grow a ridiculous amount of facial hair either, unfortunately.

Only in year 1. Year 2 you will spend either $12 or $3 for the entire year.

You must only grow peach fuzz, or you're tearing the crap out of your face.

I use 1-2 packages of disposables each year @ $2 for a 12 pack

Comes out to about .30/month for me. I can get 2-3 weeks out of a disposable

It's not really about being cheap, I just don't notice a big difference between "good" razors and 2 blade disposables

When did men become such fragile debutantes when it comes to shaving?

When they started wearing make up and using tampons.
