I have recently seen commercials/advertisements proclaiming that the home phone is making a comeback. I only know a few people who still have one (grandmother and a couple aunts and uncles). We have not had a home phone for 5-6 years.

Who still owns/uses a home phone?

We still have a landline. I have my old cell number from LA...but it makes it long distance for work to call me. So I have to have a number they can easily reach me at(that doesn't require them punching in a bunch of long distance codes).

apart from a brief stint with a comcast phone as part of a bundle, it's been 10 years+

Yeah my landline is bundled into my COX stuff. It would actually cost me more money to get rid of it(I lose my bundle discount). Cheaper to keep it for now.

Yeah it is convenient when I'm trying to look at my calendar app on my phone to see my schedule and I'm on my landline trying to make a doctor/dentist appt.

I haven't used a landline at all since I started college, cell phone only. My parents basically stopped using their landline a couple years ago.

when we got rid of the land line we went with the wireless set up for our alarm. it was only an extra 10 bucks a month.

We have one but have been seriously thinking about getting rid of it. Only problem is our 13 y.o. stays home by herself sometimes so I don't want to leave her with no way to call if there's a problem. (I'm one of those mean moms who hasn't given her middle schooler a cell phone yet. ) It would probably be a lot cheaper to just get another cell, not give it to her except in emergencies, and cancel the landline.

SO has a landline. It will work in emergencies when the cells are down. I understand the reason, but I don't have one.

Yep. You can always use a landline for free 911.

And after a hurricane a land line isn't going to do you any good when no one else has one

I had one until about 6 months ago. I like the idea of having a phone not directly attached to me that people can leave messages.

Call me old-fashioned but I still appreciate the sound quality and the ergonomics of a standard telephone handset so I've kept my landline number but ported it to a VoIP service provider that offers all the bells and whistles needed to keep telemartketers at bay and costs a staggering $12 a month (including 911 registration).

We have a land line. Have had one my whole life. My parents have one, siblings and in laws all have one. I don't really know people that don't have one

I have a landline. I went without one for a few years but the cell was not reliable enough. I love the landline. It is 100% reliable, unlike my cell.

I had this for a couple of years, but my internet is way too unreliable. I got tired of it and went back to the regular land line.
