I had them on the top of my head. It was the worst pain of my life.

I got shingles around the age of 35. I didn't even realize that I apparently had chicken pox as a kid.
Mine were in my scalp and back of neck. It wasn't horrible with the worst part being the initial few days of throbbing nerve pains (off and on) in the affected area.
I had some work stress going on at the time, which may have been a contributing factor.

I've had a few home health patients that had it pretty bad. I wonder if the vaccine helps if you get it once the shingles are gone??

Had mine when I was 12. fricking sucked

I also got these in my 20's around my rib cage, painful frickers.
That was the first time I figured out the greatness of two pain killers followed about 20 minutes later by a good joint.
I've moved on now but remember that buzz well

My doctor claims that it will. I went ahead and got it. Nothing to lose.

I had them when I was 12. Worst experience of my life. All over the left side of my lower torso. My parents should've bought stock in a calamine company.

Do the shingles look like this?

When I hit 60 I went and got the vaccine. I don't want any part of that.

I had them in college before midterms my last year. One of the most painful things I've dealt with (top 3) and I've put this body through hell.
I was prescribed oxycodone for ruptured discs at the same time, and the shingles still hurt like hell. Doc gave me some type if steroid liquid to put on them. That finally helped knock them out.
Luckily I haven't had them since, and thats been about twenty years. So just because you have them @ 26 doesn't mean you will have them often.
They were on the back of my head and down on my neck on one side. I couldn't even lay my head down on a pillow at night to sleep without it hurting like a motherfricker.
I think I ended up sleeping in the recliner until they went away.

I had them on my lower back at 33 y/o. Felt like someone was putting a lit cigarette out on my back then stomach, then back, then stomach repeatedly. Terrible pain. Good luck OP

Got them when I was 31. Left side of my face and in my ear. Doc said eardrum had already burst once and he could see more on it and it would likely do it again. Some of the worst pain I've ever experienced

Damn I got lucky, just had some on the right side of my chest and back, didn't even need pain mess.

I'm really surprised to see how many people had them in their teens and early twenties. I had not and still haven't met anyone irl that had them at a young age like I did.
Senior year of college seems like a biggie too, no surprise really.
I hope to never have another flare up again, whew.
