An army is not just bodies and guns, it's also decision making. So obviously the
Allies had the best army, as they made fewer bad decisions and won the war.

The Wermacht or the US army.
Hard to say for sure. We won, but they were better trained.

"Best" as in "most effective".

The making of aluminum is an electrical process. Our success came in no small part to our ability to make aluminum. We OUT-PRODUCED our enemies...and we had right on our side.

Germany definitely did at the start of the war. Resource issues and a war on two fronts did them in.

If you mean individual armies, then I'd take the Russian and German armies that fought at Kursk in July, 1943: superbly equipped, trained, experienced and led. And supported by excellent air force units.

If you're talking about an entire nation's armies, I'd take the U.S. with Russia a very close second. Granted, this may not be a fair comparison, especially considering that our war production efforts were basically unhindered, while Russia's situation was quite, quite different.

Russia is laughable in terms of quality. Germany, France, the uk, Australia, the us, and so one had some very fantastic units. But, as most understand, military logistics win wars and the us supplied all the fighting allies.

If you plopped the USMC in Russia in 1944 to fight the Russians or Germans, did it have sufficient artillery assets in its TO&E to be successful?

What about motorized assets?

The best infantry in the world is not necessarily the best army in the world.

Not really possible since there are so many variables. Best by what criteria? In the big picture the answer is obvious. Japs and Germans lost.

Which ever one Patton was in command of, I think we know who that was.

OP needs to ask better question, it's too broad to say just best army.
